This home’s best asset is the view. Don’t get me wrong, the interior of the home is beautiful, but the view is spectacular! We had so much fun designing this house so that the view could shine whatever the weather. When you’re cozy by the fireplace and the snow is coming down the view is just as wonderful.We added a beautiful piece of juniper from a tree that had to be removed for the home to be built, for the mantle. We love that this second home is a wonderful getaway for the whole family to share.
Neutrals are a calming force in a home. It gives you the opportunity to add splashes of color that can be easily changed. The pop of color in the throw and the pillow draw your eye first to the sofa and then to the view. Did you also notice how the rock on the fireplace mimics the landscape out the window helping to pull the outside in?
SUMMERTIME MEANS ENJOYING OUR PATIOS AND BBQS
We are oh so close to summer! With Memorial Day right around the corner- those warmer temperatures mean it’s time to bust out the patio furniture and BBQs. Adding an indoor/outdoor area rug to your furniture can help ground the space like in your living room. Just like The Dude says in The Big Lewboski movie, “An area rug can really tie a room together,” even outside.
Finding a rug to do the hard work outside can be as easy as making sure the pillows and rug work well together.

It is also time to upgrade your old BBQ to thinking about adding an outdoor kitchen. What can that look like? Would you use it year-round? I can tell you we added an outdoor kitchen to my updated patio several years ago and it has been a game changer in how we entertain all year long! We added a pizza oven, BBQ, searing station and an outdoor sink. We opted not to add a refrigerator because of the high/ low temperatures here in Central Oregon. The pizza oven is wonderful for so many different types of cooking! Pizza, of course, but also turkey at Thanksgiving, brisket (low and slow), and desserts in a cast iron pan. Think about how and who you like to entertain and what that looks like. Let your imagination and CHI’s design and remodeling expertise go wild!
