Have you heard the news? Benjamin Moore just released their 2021 Color of the Year! Aegean Teal is the hottest thing to hit home decor this year and our Complements Home Interiors design team is so excited to discuss the various options you have for using it in your space. Keep reading to learn more.
MANY USES FOR AEGEAN TEAL
Benjamin Moore’s Aegean Teal is a delightfully warm and welcoming blue-green shade reminiscent of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s one of those incredibly versatile hues that looks beautiful paired with a wide variety of decor styles and in nearly any room, from bedrooms to powder rooms and much more.
Ready for examples? It would look gorgeous in a kitchen with white cabinetry and a farmhouse feel. But it is just at home in a contemporary space with bold black and white accents. Or as part of your home office for a relaxing and inviting space. And it looks so elegant when used as an exterior accent shade, such as a front door on a red brick home. The possibilities are almost endless!
TREND TOWARDS MORE NEUTRAL HUES
Both Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams introduced color of the year hues with a more neutral tone. While Aegean Teal is a little brighter than one would expect, it certainly isn’t the punchy pop of bold color from previous years.
In fact, the trend right now is to move from those eye-popping hues to ones that are much more subtle and subdued. While there’s no exact reason for this, world events might have a bit of a factor in this decision. As we all continue to spend more time at home, staring at walls with outrageous hues doesn’t seem as enjoyable as looking at those with a dose of classic elegance.
COLOR TRENDS OF THE 2021 PALETTE
Of course, Aegean Teal is part of the Color Trends of 2021 Palette from Benjamin Moore. The collection features twelve muted hues designed to bring comfort and elegance to any space in your home. Examples of colors featured in the palette include Rosy Peach, Beacon Hill Damask, Kingsport Gray, and Foggy Morning.
Each color features the same pretty tone without a lot of bold color. Five of the hues are technically considered grays, which shows that trend isn’t quite out the door just yet. And all are designed to coordinate together for a cohesive appeal.
VERDICT: AEGEAN TEAL IS A WELCOME ADDITION
Although it is technically a color for the coming year, Benjamin Moore’s Aegean Sea is a definite positive addition to any home in 2020. This beautiful hue just lightens up a room and brings elegance and joy to the walls of your space. We can’t wait to see how our interior design clients use it in their projects over the next twelve months and beyond.
