COST OF REMODELING AND BUILDING

 I know you are all wanting to update your homes after looking at them for the last 15 months! (Me too, by the way!) I just received an update on the cost of building materials: on average, costs have risen 26.1% across the United States over the last year. In Bend, anecdotally, I can tell you that we’ve seen a 333% increase in plywood costs alone in the last 6 months. Our building materials supply chain is creaky at best, and broken at worst. What does this mean for you? If you want to remodel your home in the next 6-9 months, we highly recommend methodically planning it out and being decisive when it comes to design decisions. Above all, being patient is the best thing you can do. 

We love remodels and more importantly, we also like to make sure our clients have as accurate figures as possible. When you decide a remodel is in your future, please have an idea of how much you are willing to invest in your home. We want to respect your budget and the best way to do that is to have an accurate understanding of your scope of work and budget. If you have no idea what things cost, please ask. We’ll give our best guesstimate, but please know it is exactly that — a guesstimate.
